Tampere Kuplii comics festival

Tampere Kuplii is a feel-good comics festival for everybody interested in comics and graphic novels.

The dates for 2016 are March 16th to 20th, with the majority of programming taking place over the weekend.

In 2016 Tampere Kuplii will celebrate its 10th time of being organized. Most of the programming will take place in a new venue, Tampere Hall.

The festival is free of charge for the attendees.

While most of the programming will be in Finnish, there will also be items to enjoy even if you don't speak Finnish, for example cosplay and our vendors' tables, where you can buy comics and other interesting things!

Opening hours

Tampere Kuplii will be open in Tampere Hall:
Sat 10-18
Sun 11-17

Guest of Honour

The Guest of Honour in 2016 is Jussi ‘Juba’ Tuomola. He is one of the most popular comic book artists in Finland at the moment. He is best known for his ongoing comic strip Viivi & Wagner, about the relationship of a woman and a pig.

Cosplay

Tampere Kuplii will be hosting two cosplay competitions: costume competition open for solo and partner entries and performance competition open for teams up to 5 people. A custom soundtrack can be used for entry, but is not required. Entries must be made in advance, starting in January. In the contest, a team of judges will choose a group of finalists, who will then proceed to a public Internet vote, open for a few days after the event. All finalists will receive a small award and the main prizes will be awarded for the three most voted competitors.

The preferred method for entry is via the Finnish language entry system. However, for any English speaking visitors, we can accept manual entries via e-mail. Please direct inquiries via email to cosplay(at)tamperekuplii.fi.

In addition to competitions, we will also feature free cosplay studio photography and a number of team photoshoots organized by the Cosplay Finland Tour photo team.
